Welcome to Lindsay Council's MWOY Fundraising Page!

Feb 12, 2018

Dear All,

I am reaching out to you because I am excited for this new journey I have taken and I would like for you to be a special part. I am a part of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Student of the Year campaign. This is the first year for the Student of the Year campaign and I am super excited that I was considered to be a part of this. Through this campaign I am raising money to help those struggling not only with blood related cancers but many other cancers as well. I am running with a few other students my age to see who will raise the most money. In the end, whoever raises the most will claim the title of Student of the year, but even if I do not claim the title I will still have raised money for an amazing cause.

If you do not know me personally, my name is Lindsay and I am 17 years old. My parents are Toshia and Brady Council, and I was raised in Opelousas, Louisiana. I have attended Academy of the Sacred Heart in Grand Coteau for 10 years now and am currently a junior. I have grown a strong passion for helping others. I have participated in campaigns for both Woman and Man of the year before raising a total of $1300 to benefit the campaign of friends who have run for these titles. I feel the obligation to help every cause I can because I am very fortunate to have a roof over my head along with my loving family, attend a great school, and live a healthy life.

I have a close, personal connection to many people who have had cancer but one in particular has impacted me greatly. In October 2015, I lost my grandmother to cancer. She fought a long hard battle having two harsh cancers: stomach and esophageal cancer. I can say that I have never met anyone as strong as my grandmother who fought until the end. My grandmother was a woman who would help anyone and had a huge heart. Anyone who knew her had nothing but amazing memories of her and I have plenty. It makes me sad that cancer took her away and she won’t be there the day I graduate or the day that I walk down the aisle. In her memory, I will do whatever I can to help anyone affected by cancer.

This year as part of my own campaign I hope to raise $50,000 to put a grant in my grandmother’s name. I need all the help I can get so I am asking for donations. This is an amazing cause but I can’t do it all on my own. I can take any donations starting March 22nd, and I will have a family day event on Saturday April 14th, 2018 from 2-5pm. It will be held at the Electronic Protection Systems office in Lafayette, LA. You can check my facebook and website for upcoming event details. If you also want to reach out and help I would greatly appreciate it. I hope that you can take the time to donate and help a good cause!

P.S. Donations are tax deductible and checks can be made to Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. You can donate online, with a check, or in cash.

We are sorry donations are no longer being accepted for this participant for this event.
