Welcome to Gary Wenner's MWOY Fundraising Page!

Jan 21, 2018

Gary Wenner is in his first year with LLS after losing his wife of 15 years, Kathleen, to breast cancer.

Gary is a radio broadcaster with over 20 years of experience including stops at WKNR, WEOL, WCPN, and WTAM; and currently hosts a weekly show at WIXY 1260 Online. The “Wildman” entertains his audience with music of the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s.

A 1997 graduate of The Ohio Center for Broadcasting, now known as Ohio Media School, Gary is an instructor at his alma mater.  He teaches future broadcasters how to write and produce radio commercials, reading and speaking techniques, use of audio production software, and to believe in themselves. “I give everything I have to these kids,” he says. “Being in the school changed my life, and I want these kids to have that same experience. They believed in me when I was a student, and I made the most of it. Imagine what a little confidence can do for you”

A lifelong lover of music, he also owns Chagrin Valley Entertainment. Birthday parties, fundraisers, corporate events, class reunions and pet shows are just some events he has presided over. Of course, the bulk of the business is devoted to weddings. With hundreds of events under his belt, he admits his favorite is working with special needs kids and adults. In 2005, he was recognized by Hattie Larlham for their Community Volunteer Award for Service. “Music can be so uplifting and make you feel so much better about everything,” Gary says. “You can think of a song or two that you’ll associate with a great memory. I’m blessed that I get to make those memories.”

He joins LLS to preserve his late wife’s memory and legacy of love. “Cancer has taken a lot from me,” he said. “I’m joining LLS to take something from Cancer…. I have a strong resolve, and I will, alongside my team, make an impact”. “I’m thrilled to join a great team at LLS and look forward to forging new friendships and helping defeat a dreaded disease....I'm feeling stronger every day!!”
